Dr. Pierse holds the rare distinction of being both an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon and a Prosthodontist. He is one of only several practitioners in the United States with this privilege. Having completed seven years of post graduate hospital-based training, Dr. Pierse has demonstrated his expertise in treating the oral cavity as well as the head and neck. This background gives Dr. Pierse unique insight into the surgical process with the restorative or reconstructive goal in mind. This allows him to collaborate closely with providers during treatment planning to provide comprehensive quality care.
Education and Experience
Dr. Pierse received his Master’s Degree in Molecular Biology from Hofstra University in New York. He then obtained his Doctor of Dental Medicine from Tufts University in Boston, Massachusetts. Affiliated with Weill Medical Center, Cornell University, he then spent three years at New York Hospital Queens to become a specialist in the field of Prosthodontics. After receiving his certificate, Dr. Pierse then trained at The Brooklyn Hospital Center for an additional four years to earn his certification as an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon.
Throughout his residency training, Dr. Pierse furthered his education at Columbia University, New York University and Harvard University at The Massachusetts General Hospital. Through his experience, he honed his skills as both a surgeon and reconstructive dentist. Prior to moving to Arizona and founding Precision Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Dr. Pierse spent several years with St. Luke’s Center for Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, and held privileges in the Department of Surgery at St. Luke’s University Hospital in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.
Through leadership in the field, Dr. Pierse has helped advance the profession and provide a higher level of care to Phoenix patients. During his training, he has presented locally and nationally at numerous conferences, and has also authored articles and chapters in the fields of Prosthodontics and Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Through continuing medical education, Dr. Pierse attends courses covering the full scope of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery with concentration in the fields of pathology, craniofacial trauma and reconstructive surgery.
